    Technical sponsorship for grassroots football

Give the volunteers their evenings back.

Qualifying grassroots clubs can receive the GrassrootsClub management platform and a modern public club website through a Shear Power technical sponsorship.

GrassrootsClub is the software. Shear Power is the technical sponsor.

Mow Town FC is GrassrootsClub's fictional demo club.

    What clubs receive

Everything the club runs on, in one place.

Most clubs are run by a handful of volunteers holding it all together with group chats, spreadsheets and a website nobody has time to update.

    Club management, in one place

Teams, fixtures and results, player availability, parent and guardian contacts, venues and directions — on GrassrootsClub instead of six WhatsApp groups and a spreadsheet.

    A proper public club website

Fixtures, results, news, teams and sponsors, published from the same data the volunteers already keep up to date — so the website is never the job nobody has time for.

    Payments and a club shop

Subs, fees and kit through the platform, so the treasurer stops chasing bank transfers with no reference.

    Set up with you

We help get the club, its teams and its first season onto the system, rather than handing over a login and wishing you luck.

Why a gardening business sponsors football

    Local business. Local clubs.

Shear Power is a network of local gardening businesses. The people who run the junior section on a Saturday morning are the same people who need their lawn cut, live on the streets we work, and recommend a business to the parent next to them on the touchline.

So rather than a logo on a banner, we sponsor the thing clubs actually struggle with: the technology. The club gets software and a website it could not otherwise justify. Shear Power is credited as its technical sponsor.

    What we look for

    • A grassroots or community club, run by volunteers
    • Affiliated to a league or county FA
    • Junior, adult or women's and girls' sections — one team or twenty
    • Happy to name Shear Power as the club's technical sponsor

Sponsorship is offered to qualifying clubs at our discretion, and places are limited.

    How it works

    From application to kick-off.

    1. ApplyTell us about the club: who you are, how many teams, how you run things now.
    2. A conversationA call with the club secretary or chair to see what would actually help.
    3. Set-upYour club goes onto GrassrootsClub and gets its public website.
    4. Kick-offVolunteers run the season from one place. Shear Power is credited as technical sponsor.
Is Mow Town FC a real club?

No. Mow Town FC is GrassrootsClub's made-up demo club: every player, fixture and result in it is fictional. It exists so you can see exactly what your club's website and panel would look like. See its website or explore it as a club volunteer.

What is the difference between GrassrootsClub and Shear Power?

GrassrootsClub is the club-management platform. Shear Power is the technical sponsor: through this programme it covers the cost of qualifying clubs having the platform and a website, and is credited as the club's technical sponsor.

Do we have to change how we run the club?

No. The point is to replace the group chats and spreadsheets with one place that does the same jobs, so the volunteers spend less time on admin. We help you set it up.

Can a club use GrassrootsClub without the sponsorship?

Yes — GrassrootsClub has its own plans, including a free one for a single team. See GrassrootsClub. The sponsorship is for qualifying clubs that want the full platform and a club website.

    Apply for technical sponsorship.

Tell us about your club. We read every application and reply to each one — usually with a call to the secretary or chair.

We use these details only to reply about the sponsorship. See our privacy policy.
